Exploring Gods Creation Through Art (Grades K-2)

ABOUT
This art class is designed for students enrolled in Kindergarten - Grade 2 at Pacific Academy for the 2026/2027 school year. Through drawing, paitning, and mixed media, students will create artwork inspired by the natural world around them, including season plants, insects, and animals. Students will be encouraged to observe and appreciate God's creation in their everyday surroundings. 

Throughout the year, students will explore a variety of art techniques, including watercolor painting, pencil crayons, shading, oil pastels, collage, and simple 3D construction. Each unit (approximately 8 weeks) focuses on a season theme (e.g. "Fall Plants & Animals," "Winter Elements & Animals," "Spring Flowers & Insects"), encouraging observation and creative expression. 

Students will complete one artwork each week, along with several fun collaborative projects, including large-scale group artworks on roll paper. This class is suitable for beginners as well as students with some prior art experience.

LOCATION
Students will be picked up by instructors and volunteers from their classrooms. Pickup will be in the cafeteria.

Please note, classes follow the school calendar, so there will be no classes on days that school is not in session.

ATTIRE
As this class runs immediately after school students should remain in their school uniform. Art smocks will be provided when needed. 

SUPPLIES
Basic art supplies will need to be purchased ahead of time by families and sent with each student on the first day of class.

• Oil Pastels
• Pencil Crayon Set
• Acrylic Markers
• Mix Media Pad
• Pencil Set

Please note that the above links are the recommended brands, as lower quality supplies and materials will make a difference in the quality of art created. Any special or extraneous material will be provided by the instructor.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Children will be given a small snack at the start of their program. Please ensure all allergies are listed and provide us with up-to-date information. 

REGISTRATION
Registration opens on May 4, 2026 at 8:00 AM and closes on October 5, 2026 at 11:55 PM or once the program is full. A waitlist is available at no cost.
