Hip Hop Rising Stars (K-5)

ABOUT
Hip Hop Rising Stars is for students in Grades K-5. This class is designed as an introduction to a fun, energetic, and expressive style of dance. Hip Hop originated in New York City during the late 1970s and has grown into one of the most popular dance styles around the world. This class provides a postivie and engaging way for students to stay active while building confidence, creativity, and coordination. Dancers will learn the fundamentals of several Hip Hop styles, including breaking, popping, and locking. Throughout the year, students will develop their skills, explore self-expression through movement in dance, and work together to create a routine for a year end performance.

INSTRUCTOR
Miss Sarah Gelineau

LOCATION
Students will be picked up by a staff member from their JK4-2 classroom after school and brought to the cafeteria.
Pick up will be at the cafeteria promptly when class finishes.

DATES
Tuesday, September 8th, 2026 to Tuesday, June 22nd, 2027
Time: 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
Please note, classes follow the school calendar, so there will be no classes on days that school is not in session.

COST
Total Program Cost: $745

Payment Due Dates:

• First half due upon registration
• Second half due October 15, 2026

ATTIRE
Dancers are encouraged to bring a change of clothes that allows for comfortable movement.

Please bring:

• Loose-fitting pants (joggers or sweatpants) or shorts
• A comfortable, loose-fitting t-shirt
• Running shoes (Runners) - mandatory

Please do not wear jeans, as they restrict movement and can make dancing uncomfortable.

FOOTWEAR
Non-marking indoor runners.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Children will be given a small snack at the start of their program. Please ensure all allergies are listed and provide us with up-to-date information. 

This is an active class, and students will be moving their bodies throughout the entire session.

Please bring a water bottle to each class, as we will take breaks as needed to rest and hydrate. Our Hip HOp program is designed to be fun, supportive, and inclusive. We welcome students of all experience levels and abilities. Whether your child is brand new to dance or has previous experience, everyone is encouraged to participate and learn at their own pace. If your child has any physical limitations, injuries, or accommodations taht may affect their participation, please let the instructor know prior to the start of class so we can help ensure a positive experience.

REGISTRATION
Registration opens on June 15, 2026 at 8:00 AM and closes on October 5, 2026 at 11:55 PM or once the program is full. A waitlist is available at no cost.
