Pre Competitive Contemporary

ABOUT
Our Pre-Competitive Contemporary class is for students enrolled in Grades 1–12 at Pacific Academy for the 2026/2027 school year. Contemporary is a modern style of dance that incorporates elements of ballet and jazz while encouraging self-expression, creativity, emotion, and storytelling through movement. This style allows for a greater range and fluidity of movement than traditional dance techniques and can be performed to a variety of musical styles.

A Pre-Competitive class is designed for students who are interested in developing their technique in a more focused environment while preparing for future competitive opportunities. Each class includes a warm-up, stretching, core strengthening, and choreography that emphasizes artistry, musicality, and performance quality. Students will learn a routine and perform at one local competition in the Spring of 2027. This class is by invitation only. Students enrolled in Pre-Competitive Contemporary must also be registered in Open Ballet Tech, Open Jazz Tech, and one additional dance class of their choice alongside this class.

Drop off and pick up will be in the cafeteria.
Instructors will escort students to and from their class location.

Wednesday, September 9th, 2026 to Wednesday, June 23rd, 2027
Time: 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Please note, classes follow the school calendar, so there will be no classes on days that school is not in session.

COST
Total Program Cost: $495
Costume Deposit: $70

ATTIRE
Students should wear a bodysuit or t-shirt with shorts or leggings, form-fitting stretchy clothing, and hair pulled back off the face.

FOOTWEAR
Required footwear for Lyrical is foot undies.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Please send your child with a full water bottle.
To celebrate student learning and work throughout the year, students will be invited to participate in a year-end performance. A dress rehearsal will be held in the week before the performance. More details will be given closer to the date.

REGISTRATION
Registration opens August 11th, 2026 at 8:00 AM and closes on October 5, 2026 at 11:55 PM or once the program is full. A waitlist is available at no cost.
